Lewis E. Waddell, Jr., 69, of Conover, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at his home in Conover, NC.

He was born Aug. 3, 1942, in Panama City, Fla., the only child born to the late Lewis E. Waddell, Sr. and Charlsye Culp Waddell.

He was a graduate of Boyden High School in Salisbury and continued his education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a brother of Kappa Alpha Order and recipient of a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship. Waddell earned a B.S. Degree in Political Science in 1963 and his Juris Doctor from the UNC Law School in 1966.

Waddell was a practicing attorney for 46 years, having joined the Newton law firm of Leffler & Gordon as an Associate in 1966. He was made a Partner in the firm in 1972.

Survivors include his only child, son Michael Patrick Waddell and his wife, Heidi of Baltimore, Md.; and grandchildren Andrew Ketchum Waddell and Caroline Elizabeth Waddell.
