John Wiley Harris, 73, of Farmbrooke Lane, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, following a six-week illness. Mr. Harris was born Feb. 11, 1940, in Iredell County, to Henry Clay Harris and Sara Belle Kurfees Harris.
He retired from Piedmont Aviation and U.S. Airways after 42 years of service. He was a member of Oak Forest Methodist Church. Mr. Harris was an avid antique car enthusiast having personally restored a 1972 Chevrolet pickup truck. Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Martha Virginia Murray Harris of the home; daughter Emily Marshall Harris of Hickory; son David Claude Harris of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Dawson Harris and Abigail Harris; brother Ronald Harris and wife Carol of Atlanta, Ga.; sister Bonzie Everson and husband Richard of Salisbury; several nieces and nephews; as well as two dachshund companions, Chloe and Daisy.
